Gunmen attack Abuja community and abduct 5 persons

  Unidentified gunmen attacked Tungar Maje village of Gwagwalada Local Government Area in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and kidnapped scores of persons on Thursday, September 10.   According to residents, the gunmen stormed their community in the early hours of today and after shooting sporadically, abducted about 12 persons. The gunmen reportedly dropped 7 out of the 12 initially kidnapped persons after they were engaged in a gun battle by police officers and members of the community's vigilante group.   Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the FCT command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said efforts are being made to rescue the remaining five kidnap victims.   “The command wishes to inform the public that when it received a distress call on the kidnap of some persons on September 10, 2020, at about 0130hrs in Tungan Maje, a village bordering FCT and Niger state, a joint team of police operatives from the command Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Rapid Response Squad and Zuba Poli

Governor Bello lifts lockdown in Kabba Bunu, insists Kogi is COVID-19 free

The lockdown imposed on Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of the state over suspected cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), has been lifted by the Kogi state government.    Governor Yahaya Bello who made the announcement at the Government House in Lokoja on Friday June 5, said the decision of lifting the lockdown in the local government area was reached after samples which were tested came back negative.    The Governor who insisted that Kogi state still  remains a COVID-19-free state, urged residents of the state to observe protocols of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to curb the spread of the disease.   This is coming days after the NCDC announced that two Coronavirus cases were confirmed in the state. Dino Melaye also confirmed this by revealing that he knows one of the patients. 

Covid-19: JABU donates 1000 Facemasks and hand sanitizers to Osun Govt.

The government of the State of Osun has on Thursday received 1000 pieces of hand Sanitizers and 1000 facemasks donated by the Management of Joseph Ayo Babalola University, ikeji Arakeji in Osun State as their widow's mite to curb the spread of Covid 19 Pandemic. The Deputy Governor and Chairman Osun Covid-19 task force Mr Benedict Alabi took the delivery of the material in Osogbo on behalf of the Governor. He thanked the institution for its support and for identifying with the government during this challenging period.

An Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti on Monday sentenced four persons to death by hanging for the murder of a 70-year-old pensionner, Samuel Oloyede.

Ekiti state government said it has concluded arrangements to open its own COVID-19 testing lab next week. When in place, the lab would serve as a place where suspected Coronavirus patients could be tested without having to wait for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

Abducted Ekiti Commissioner Regains Freedom

   Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Olabode Folorunso, who was abducted by unknown gunmen last week, has regained his freedom from his abductors. The State Commissioner for Information in a press statement says the abducted commissioner was released on Monday(today) and has since rejoined his family.
