Usman Ajidagba, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in charge of Nasarawa state, has said that 102,556 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have yet to be collected. Ajidagba made this known on Thursday, April 26, in Lafia while interacting with newsmen on assumption of office as the new REC in charge of the state, The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. He said that 1,148,740 eligible voters had registered in the state since the last election in 2015, adding that the state had fared better than other states in the country in terms of collection of PVCs. “It is quite commendable that out of the 1,148,740 persons who registered since 2015 in the state, only 102,556 were yet to collect their processed PVCs.” He said that more efforts were needed to ensure that all unclaimed PVCs were collected and sought the collaboration of the media in this regard. The commissioner appealed to the media for sustained partnership in order to deliver free, fair and credible elections to Nigerians in 2019. Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned candidates contesting the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti state against inducing voters with cash. Cable reports that Mahmood Yakubu, who is the chairman of the commission, gave the warning at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on Monday, April 9. Yakubu was represented by Solomon Soyebi, INEC national chairman in charge of Oyo Ekiti, Osun and Ondo states.
