Gunmen kidnap at least four Persons in Ekiti

  Unknown gunmen have abducted no fewer than four persons in Ikole Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State. SAIBLOG gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening along Oke Ako–Irele Road in Ikole Ekiti. SAIBLOG learnt that the incident which occurred at about 7.30 pm involved occupants of two vehicles, a commercial car and a mini-truck, waylaid at a bad portion of the road. A source at Oke Ako alleged that the driver, a native of the neighbouring Ipao-Ekiti and a passenger were abducted in the commercial vehicle while the driver and his assistant were taken away in the mini-truck, which he said was conveying charcoal. Other sources, however, said they could not ascertain the exact number of the victims whether lower or higher than four. Ekiti State Court Arraigns 67 Years Old Chief Over Criminal Charges

  An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court, sitting in Ado Ekiti has granted bail to a 67-year-old Chief Atemoloro Anthony on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forceful entry, unlawful damage and unlawful offer of land for sale. Atemoloro Anthony was arraigned for allegedly forcibly encroaching the land of Omolayo Sunday and unlawfully damaging the fence and building valued N2.5m. According to the prosecutor, the defendant committed offences contrary to and punishable under sections 421, 65, 329 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021 and section 9 sub-sections 1, a, b and c of Anti-land grabbing Laws of Ekiti State, 2019. Counsel to the defendant, Tope Salami prayed the court via a bail application to admit his client to bail in liberal terms. The Police prosecutor, Bamikole Olasunkanmi did not oppose the bail application but asked for a date to assemble his witnesses.   Former governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, has rejected the outcome of the just concluded governorship election in the state. Mr Moses Jolayemi, who is a media aide to the former governor, stated this during an interview on  Channels Television’s Sunday Politics. “We received it with shock,” he said of the new outcome of the poll in which the former governor was the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). “Shock in the sense that nobody expected that they could take it this far. “We have always known that APC was not sincere about the entire process, but we didn’t know they were going to go this far. So, the result is unaccepted.” The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji, as the winner of the keenly contested election. APC’s Oyebanji Declared Winner Of Ekiti Governorship Election

  The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress winner of the 2022 Ekiti governorship election. Mr Oyebanji polled a total of 187,057 votes to defeat his two closest challengers – Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Bisi Kolawole of the People’s Democratic Party. The SDP emerged in second place with total votes of 82,211 while the PDP was third with 67,457 votes. Mr Oyebanji is now set to replace incumbent Kayode Fayemi in October. “No society can grow greater than the vision and dream of its leader,” Oyebanji said during last week’s Ekiti governorship debate, one of his final public appeals to voters. “I am offering myself to lead our people into a prosperous society. “I am bringing to the table 11 years of experience in the public service at the state level, and two years at the federal level. “I am going to aggregate the best brains of Ekiti all over the world to help me achieve my dreams.” The elect
