Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Gender Empowerment and Mobilisation, Chief (Mrs.) Kemisola Olaleye has described the gruesome murder of a student of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Miss Atanda Modupe Deborah as viciously wrong and unacceptable.
In a statement made available to the Press in Ado Ekiti, Chief Olaleye called on the Police to fish out and diligently prosecute perpetrators of the heinous deed.
She expressed condolences to the parents and family of the departed, Management of the school, her friends, and fellow students and prayed that God would grant them fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Reiterating the commitment of the State Government to the safety of lives and property of people in the State, Chief Olaleye assured that no stone would be left unturned to seek justice for victim of the dastardly act.
She however stressed the need to enlighten youths, particularly girls, on the need for caution as well as safety measures to avoid falling prey to evil minded criminals.
“The news of the gruesome murder of a promising Nigerian student, Modupe Deborah Atanda, is disheartening and a wake-up call for caution. It is highly condemnable and disappointing to see young, innocent girls fall victim to these animals in human clothing.”
“While we call on relevant security agencies to do the needful and bring the perpetrators to justice, we need to stress the need to enlighten our girls, on campus or not, on the precautionary measures to avoid falling victim to such acts or situations. And as we grieve, I implore all, especially the students to be law-abiding to give room for proper investigation.”
Olaleye also implored students of the institution and other concerned persons to remain calm and law-abiding to give room for proper investigation.
