Hoodlums cart away documents at Ekiti SDP secretariat

Suspected hoodlums on Tuesday night broke into the Ekiti State secretariat of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), located on Ilawe Road in Ado-Ekiti. They carted away documents.

The state Publicity Secretary of the party, Gani Salau, made this known yesterday while addressing reporters at the secretariat.

He said offices at the secretariat were ransacked by the hoodlums and vital documents needed for the prosecution of the party’s case at the governorship tribunal were carted away.

Salau added that other facilities at the secretariat such as plasma TV,  GOTV decoder and other valuable items were also burgled.

He alleged that the incident was masterminded by enemies of the party to frustrate SDP’s case at the tribunal, noting that the party would not be deterred by the act.

“The offices of the chairman and secretary were vandalised, while documents being used for the ongoing Ekiti 2022 governorship election tribunal case were carted away.”

He said: “The hoodlums came into the premises in the night through the fence, jumped in and forcefully opened the door.”

Salau, who conducted reporters round the offices, said:  “The most important thing is that we have informed the security agency, who assured us of prompt action. The DPO of New Iyin Road Police Station sent his team to conduct inspection.”
