Ekiti expands isolation centre to 150 beds

...as CACOVID donates 100 beds, medical equipment  Ekiti State Government, on Thursday formally expanded its isolation centre to 150 bed space, following the delivery of 100 hospital beds and other medical equipment from the Nigeria Private Sector Coalition Against Covid-19 (CACOVID) in support of the fight against Coronavirus in the State. The expansion, according to Governor Kayode Fayemi, has positioned the state to tackle possible rise in cases. The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr (Mrs) Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, at the event that took place at the Oba Adejugbe General Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, said the facility would boost the state's capacity for curtailing the spread of the pandemic. 15 NYSC members in Ekiti to repeat service

Fifteen Corps Members of 2019 Batch B, Stream ‘1’ who served in Ekiti State would repeat the compulsory one- year service for absconding from their Places of Primary Assignments (PPAs), the state NYSC coordinator have disclosed. The NYSC Ekiti State Coordinator, Mrs Emmanuella Okpongete, disclosed yesterday in Ado-Ekiti during the passing-out exercise of the corps members that 26 corps members also bagged extensions for various offences during the service year. “Out of 2,282 Corps members, 15 absconded and will have their service year repeated, 26 got an extension for various offences and three outstanding ones that have done well are recommended for State Awards. “The punishment for their offence is to repeat their service year and refund whatever allowance(s) they might have collected,” she said. 75-year-old woman dies of Coronavirus in Ekiti

Ekiti State Government has confirmed the death a 75-year-old woman. She died from the complications of coronavirus-related complications. With the new fatality, the number of COVID-19 deaths has increased to two in the state. “We can confirm that one of the samples sent to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control-accredited laboratory for testing returned positive of the #COVID-19 virus infection. “The new positive case, a 75-year-old female, has died from complications of the virus,” it tweeted.

Ekiti University VC, Prof. Eddy Olanipekun In A Ghastly Accident [Photos]

The Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Prof Edward Olanipekun has reportedly been involved in a ghastly motor accident today, Monday, May 18, 2020. An eyewitness said the accident occurred along Ado-Iworoko Road this evening when the Vice-Chancellor’s vehicle collided with another vehicle and tumbled about 5 times. “Prof Olanipekun just had a very bad accident now. He was passing through Ado-Iworoko Road this evening when his car hit another in-coming car and both vehicles tumbles,” the eyewitness said. The eyewitness added that Prof. Eddy Olanipekun has been taken to the hospital, but in a very bad condition, adding that Nigerians and all student should put him in prayers. Prof. Eddy Olanipekun was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University on August 20, 2019, by Governor Kayode Fayemi. Olanipekun is a Professor of Chemistry, and a former Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies of the University.

Ekiti moves to remodel Fajuyi memorial park

Ekiti State Government has expressed willingness to remodel the popular Fajuyi memorial park to an ultra-modern recreational centre for tourists and fun-seekers. Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Prof. Rasaki Ojo Bakare, who made this known during inspection of the facilitity, reaffirmed commitment of the Kayode Fayemi-led government to revolutionise its tourism sector for economic prosperity. Ekiti begins massive drone, motorised fumigation across 16 LGAs

As part of efforts to reduce the spread of coronavirus, the Ekiti State government has launched massive street fumigation across the 16 local government areas of the state with the use of drones and motorized fumigators. Speaking in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday while flagging off the programme,  Fayemi, represented by the  Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Gbenga Agbeyo, said the exercise became imperative to rid the state of the deadly COVID-19. Ekiti Discharges four patients, records 4 new cases •Mobilisation Committee raises N631m

•Ekiti Health Commissioner, Dr (Mrs) Mojisola Yaya-Kolade The Ekiti State Government on Friday said it has received a total N631 million from the COVID-19 Response Resource Mobilization Committee set up last month to raise and manage funds and projects to aid government’s fight against the spread of the coronavirus in the state. The government also announced the arrival of its molecular laboratory for COVID-19 test in Ado-Ekiti, just as it announced that it has discharged four COVID-19 patients after their second test turned negative. It also confirmed another four positive cases among the people in the state quarantine centre. The four discharged were part of the five reported active cases at the state isolation centre before the results of three out of those who were quarantined came out. The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has approved the appointment of Prince Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo from Ile-Iyaba Ruling House as the new Oore of Otun-Ekiti, succeeding HRM Oba James Adeyemi Popoola who joined his ancestors on the 21st of October, 2019. Tragedy As Missing Seven-Year-Old Girl Found Dead Inside Co-tenants Vehicle In Ekiti

Olujoda area of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital on Friday, was thrown into mourning when the corpse of a 7-year -old girl Olagoke Morire, was found dead inside a vehicle owned by a co-tenant. It was gathered that Morire and her twin sister, Olagoke Mokore were with their cousin in their apartment before they went out to buy biscuits. The mother of the deceased Kehinde Ajayi said her daughter got missing around 1:15 pm after Mokore left her in the compound to fetch the money she forgot in the room. Ajayi said the deceased’s twin sister and her neighbors raised the alarm when she could not be found and the situation prompted them to conduct a search for the girl around the compound, which proved abortive until 8 pm when her corpse was found inside a co-tenant’s vehicle that was parked in their compound. “When we woke up in the morning I took care of my children as usual.
