In response to public calls for government intervention, the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi has directed the Bureau of Employment, Labour and Productivity (BELP) to provide all possible assistance for alternative employment to those who may be affected in the recently announced disengagement at Ekiti State University.
The Agency is to provide multiple support and assistance, including Job Counseling, CV Review service, Interview Prep Sessions, Assistance for Application for New Openings, Skills Review and Upgrade, entrepreneurial opportunities, as well as any other services they may require to become gainfully employed, to interested persons affected by the disengagement from the institution.
In a statement by the DG, BLEP, Mr Lanre Ogunjobi, affected persons are advised to register with the Bureau online at www.ekitistate.gov.ng/BELP or visit the Bureau’s office at the State Secretariat, Ado Ekiti, to be captured in the Unemployment Database so the Bureau can assist them with access to new openings suitable for their qualifications and skill sets.
The Governing Council of Ekiti State University had announced its adoption of the recommendations of an independent staff audit, to disengage all irregular and fraudulently employed persons on its payroll.
The Governor’s directive is in line with his commitment to provide the enabling environment for job creation and sustainable livelihoods by investing in human capital development through the Bureau of Employment, Labour and Productivity.
