Governor Rochas Okorocha has insisted that he is in charge of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo state and the south east.
The governor made this comment following rumour that he may leave the party after his camp lost out in the party’s ward congress in the state.
Premium Times reports that the governor was quoted as saying that he can win election in the state on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Okorocha’s camp reportedly lost out in the ward, local government and state congresses organised by APC although he has denied that any congresses were held.
In the state congress, Hilary Ekeh was re-elected as Imo APC party chairman although Okorocha has described it as illegal.
Sam Onwuemeodowho is the chief press secretary to the governor however insisted that Okorocha remains a member of the APC and would not leave for anyone.
He said: “Leave for who? After all these noise by those who call themselves stakeholders, owners of the party led by the governor will determine what happens at the end of the day. Watch out.”
NAIJ.com had reported that the stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo declared that they have made Governor Rochas Okorocha politically irrelevant in their determination to rescue the party from imminent collapse in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Theo Ekechi, who spoke to newsmen after a closed-door meeting with the APC national leadership on Thursday, May 17, in Abuja, said the stakeholders had overwhelming evidences against Okorocha.
Ekechi said he had made it impossible for the governor to get attention from any quarter in the state and in the South-East region.
