Generating Plant Powering Street Lights In Akwa Ibom Set On Fire By Hoodlums

Commissioner for Works, Akwa Ibom State, Mr Ephraim Inyang-Eyen has issued a note of warning to all persons who are bent on tampering with public infrastructure to desist forthwith.

Inyangeyen made the assertion after reports of a fire incident along Edet Akpan avenue, adjacent monty suites where a generating plant powering the street lights along the axis was reportedly set ablaze by unknown persons.
He said his ministry has had to contend with thieves who vandalize street lights, drain diesel from generators and commit all forms of vandalism.
Inyangeyen said the latest fire incident is clearly a wicked display of frustration since he and his team at the works ministry had sealed all the loopholes these criminal elements use to take away diesel from the generators.
He has however warned that henceforth, government will apprehend and press criminal charges on anybody, no matter the status caught sabotaging government’s efforts in making life better for Akwa Ibom people.
