Former Super Eagles Defender Taye Taiwo Joins Finnish Club

Former Super Eagles defender, Taye Taiwo, has signed a one-year-deal with Finnish Veikkausliliga outfit, Rovaniemi Palloseura (RoPS).
The 32-year-old last featured for Swedish club, AFC Eskilstuna.
The defender stated that the decision to join RoPS was an easy one for him after he was contacted by Koskela who was the assistant coach during his time with HJK.
“I was motivated to work with him again. This is also a real dream job to be a soccer player. You can never know which country you are going to find the next day, and now I can bring my expertise to the Rovaniemi Palloseura,” Taiwo he told RoPS’ official website.
Taiwo has featured for top European clubs; Marseille, AC Milan and Dynamo Kiev and QPR.
Meanwhile, RoPS head coach, Toni Koskela told the club’s official website: “Taye is a clear leader and winner on the field. I have known him since our time together with HJK,” RoPS head coach Toni Koskela told the club’s official website.
“He is a very physical player and a good football player. Taye has a strong left foot shot, so he will be excellent match for our special situations as well.”
