This is a press statement released by Barr. Ben Chuks Nwosu, C ounsel to Chief Olisa Metuh. The statement reads: Our attention has been drawn to a misleading report in a section of the media suggesting that the Fifth Defence Witness in the case involving our client, Chief Olisa Metuh, told the court that money was paid to media houses or their representatives from the controversial N400 million to launder the image of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

EFCC arraigns husband and wife for N120 million fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today, November 16, 2016 arraigned the duo of Austine Chidiebere Ezeama and Juliet Ezeama (Husband and wife) before Justice O. H. Photos: Over 500 African migrants including pregnant women and children rescued in the Mediterranean Sea

554 African migrants were rescued in the Mediterranean Sea in a 24 hour hour operation conducted by Red Cross and Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS) teams. A rubber boat and a wooden boat were spotted last night, after having been adrift at sea for over 20 hours. Fortunately, everyone was recovered in relatively good shape, considering the situation.

Police arrests man for killing his 16-yr-old step-daughter and selling her head to his son for N3,000

The Ogun state police command have arrested 63-year-old man, Korede Odubela pictured left, for allegedly killing his 16-year-old step-daughter, Amudat Oshimodi, and selling her head to his son, Seun, a herbalist, who allegedly paid N3,000 as first installment. According to Vanguard, the suspect reportedly connived with one Lekan Lawal, to commit the crime at Imosan Area of Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of the state.

Villagers gather in their numbers to undergo spiritual cleansing in celebration of Eri festival in Anambra state

People of Aguleri community in Anambra state gathered in their numbers to undergo a spiritual cleansing in commemoration of the 2016 Olili Obibia Eri (Eri Festival). The villagers led by their traditional ruler, His Majesty, Eze Eri (Ezeora 34th & Aka Ji Ovo Igbo) gathered at the Omabala river in Aguleri where prayers were said before the spiritual cleansing began. Kenya Police set 5,250 illegal firearms ablaze as message to urge others with similar weapons to surrender them
