An upcoming comedian, Ebiye set the internet in horrific fire when he made a rude remark over the winning of singer, Aramide at the 12th Headies awards held on May 5. Aramide who has stuck to her genre of music for years, emerged winner of the Best Alternative Song category but that didn't seat well with comedian Ebiye.
Among the nominees were great artistes such as Adekunle Gold for his song; Money, Nonso Amadi for his song; Radio, Johnny Drille for his song; Romeo and Juliet, Reminisce for his song; Pomile, Lagos Barbie for Bantu and Aramide for Fun mi Lowo Mi, which earned her the award.
Comedian Ebiye however, didn't consider her the best choice for the award and decided to voice his thoughts which came across as a disrespectful and ride comment. In his post on Snapchat, while Aramide gave her speech for the award, he said: "She can't believ it, lol she probably fvcked for the award. #Headies.
Although Aramide didn't comment, it appears many of her fans sent insults Ebiye's way and in less than 48 hours, he released a public apology on his social media page. He said: " I made a distasteful joke about @aramidemusic last night at the headies. I am embarrassed by my comments and I am profusely sorry. Aramide is a hardworking artist who deserves every recognition she gets by merit. I sincerely apologize and pledge that such will not repeat itself again. I pledge to control my words in the future as things said and written cannot be taken back."
