The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has maintained that it will do everything within the confines of the law to ensure that it returns to power in 2019. The national chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, told the Punch in report published on Sunday, February 4, that the PDP remained the best option for the county at the moment. He said the opposition party was engaged in reconciliation talks with some members who left the party, adding that the issue of concern to the PDP at the moment was how to rescue the country from incompetent hands. Rather, we should all be concerned about how to rescue the country from the claws of incompetent hands. “Is there anyone in the country who is not feeling the pain? Is the market for the PDP members different from that of the APC members? Are those lining up in the queues at petrol stations members of a particular political party? Is electricity being diverted to a particular zone of the country? “As for us, we are discussing with everybody. We want everyone back under the umbrella so that we can escape further beating by the APC acidic rain.” The party is also reported to be wooing members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the National Assembly with automatic tickets. Meanwhile, the APC has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will receive the final report of its panel on true federalism, after inputs from relevant organs of the party before the details of the report can be made available to the public. The national publicity secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, said this in an interview with Punch in Abuja, on Friday, February 2. Abdullahi explained that the restructuring committee would have to first submit the report to the party’s national working committee for necessary input before presenting the details to the public. He said that this was part of the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability. According to Abdullahi, it is after normal processes and procedures have been followed that a final copy would be submitted to the president for further action.
